Athena is a powerful web based review tool specially for colleges.
When opening the Learners Record, learning Outcomes, Smart Targets, Assessments, Action Plans are all presented for fast processing.
Each assessment is course and learner specific but reviews can usually be completed in a few clicks of the mouse.

Foundation Learning

Learners and tutors can agree an individual learning programme, reflecting both the learner’s entry point and intended route to be taken by the learners to develop vocational, subject learning, personal and social development, and functional skills.
All of this can be facilitated through Athena.
It will maintain and include the foundation learning catalogue from where the appropriate units are selected for each learner.
Athena fully meets the assessment, monitoring and tracking needs of the new foundation learning environment.

Provides benefits to leaders, tutors and students

  • Leaders e.g. department heads and quality managers can instantly track progress and improvements by department, section and organisational level.
  • Tutors – save administrative time through delivery of online reviews, comments and feedback

Smart Targets

Smart Target Manager is an exciting new addition to Athena. The interface is easy for both Learners and Tutors. The Key features:

  • Any number of Smart Targets can be created. they can be related to a course or maintained independantly
  • Smart targets can be tracked. You can define your own evaluative criteria for smart targets.
  • At each review point comments, achievement status, achievement comments, achievement dates and add any supportive evidence
  • Reporting is flexible. Feedback can be taylored to the Learner level. Smiley Faces may be applicable in some environments but not in others. You determine the format to suit the environment

Progress Tracker

Tracking Learner progress against Learning outcomes, Smart Targets, Learning Outcomes and Action Plans: Is essential.

Athena gives you the facility to track learner progress against all aspects of their learning journey.

For each course, smart targets, action plan and learning goal, different progress measures can be established and tracked

Progress can be tracked at: learner, outcome, course, department and college level.

Course Learning Outcomes

Course learning outcomes are avaialble for all courses. Against each outcomes, Learners and Tutors can update: Planned Achievement Dates, Comments at each review, Achievement Status and add any supportive material.
Traffic light indicators and detail reports provide an immediate indicator as to the Achievement Status of the outcome and the course.
Both Learners and Tutors can add their comments, make assessments, add supportive documentation and assignments and track achievement and progress.
Learning outcome assessments can updated directly to the Mark Book.

Non Course Assessment, Action Plans and impact Analysis

Athena can be used to establish your evaluative criteria and then perform assessments based on appropiate measures, where periodic assessments need to be undertaken.

Asessments can be established with fairness and standardization across the college. These are a primary consideration in all aspects of testing. Careful standardization of tests and administration conditions helps to ensure that all test takers are given a comparable opportunity to demonstrate what they know and how they can perform in the area being tested.

Reliability is defined as "an indication of the consistency of scores across evaluators or over time." An assessment is considered reliable when the same results occur regardless of when the assessment occurs or who does the scoring. This is achieved using the Athena's structure of establishing reliable across: campus, department, course or activity.

Athena's framework allows for compelling evidence to show that results are consistent across raters and across scoring occasions.
Validity is defined as "an indication of how well an assessment actually measures what it is supposed to measure." which can be achieved via the Athena interface
Learners and tutors can both make assessments. Any number of attributes and measures can be established.
Traffic lights and assessments measures are displayed throughout the process.
If necessary and Action Plan can be establish to address any Learners issues.
Once an action plan is established an impact analysis is made. From this additional, action plans can be made.

Mark Book

The mark book provides a direct link from detailed course activity to the resultant course evaluation.
